In response to Covid-19, we have worked hard and fast, along with suicide prevention training company Start the Conversation, to move our 90-minute workshop online. The result is Talking about Suicide: Ten Tools, which we are delivering on Zoom.
The Zero Suicide Alliance is a collaborative of National Health Service trusts, businesses and individuals who are all committed to suicide prevention in the UK and beyond. The alliance is ultimately concerned with improving support for people contemplating suicide by raising awareness of and promoting FREE suicide prevention training which is accessible to all. The aims of this training are to: enable people to identify when someone is presenting with suicidal thoughts/behaviour, to be able to speak out in a supportive manner, and to empower them to signpost the individual to the correct services or support.
Together with Start the Conversation, Olly’s Future has created a practical, skills-based 90 minute suicide prevention workshop specifically for the workplace. This training session will help colleagues spot the signs of someone who may be struggling with mental health and feeling suicidal. It will also equip staff with the vital knowledge of how best to help them.
Ann is creating a 1 hour training course to help people support others who are bereaved through suicide. At the moment, this training is still in the development stage but this should be ready to roll out in 2020.
