On Thursday, March 13, we hosted a very special evening in Worthing: the first-ever Love and Light Community Film Showcase, celebrating powerful local stories and the impact of suicide prevention work in our community.
Held at the Pavilion Atrium, the free event brought together local filmmakers and community groups to present a moving programme of short films and documentaries that inspire hope, connection, and healing
The headline screening was our own 50-minute documentary, Olly’s Light Travels. Created by Mat Films, the documentary follows the incredible story of Oliver “Olly” Hare — a young man from Worthing whose legacy lives on through the work of Olly’s Future.
The film shares Olly’s life through his own words, journals, and photographs, tracing his travels through Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and South America. After Olly’s tragic death in 2017, his family and friends came together to launch Olly’s Future, a charity dedicated to saving young lives from suicide.
“The film is a beautiful testimony to him and is full of hope and positivity,” said Ann Feloy, founder of Olly’s Future and Olly’s mum. “It was incredibly special to share this with our local community.”
Guests also had the chance to hear from others involved in suicide prevention, and to find out about the charity’s training programme ‘Talking About Suicide: 10 Tools’, which has reached more than 6,000 people to date.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the event, and to all those who continue to support Olly’s legacy of love and light.
