Congratulations to Oliver Brelsford, this year’s winner of The Oliver Hare Cup, presented annually by the Lord Mayor of London. The award goes to the ‘Band Musician of the Year’ at Christ’s Hospital School in West Sussex, which Oliver attended.
The award is in memory of Oliver (Olly) Hare who went to Christ’s Hospital School from 2005 to 2013. He loved leading the renowned marching band as Drum Major at major public events, such as the Lord Mayor’s Parade, and also for the school’s daily parade into lunch!
Oliver was apprenticed to the Worshipful Company of World Traders when he was 18 years old, after winning their Economic Prize presented at the school’s Speech Day every year. Past Master Mary Hardy, pictured aove with the winner, knew Olly well. She said her livery company had wanted to set up a memorial award connected to the band Oliver loved.
Oliver, a talented young musician, has a scholarship to the Royal Northern College of Music to study the French Horn. Olivia Buckland (pictured above) was also there to congratulate him. Olivia went to Christ’s Hospital School with Olly Hare and is a founding member of Olly’s Future.
