Campaigning for Suicide Prevention Training in Westminster

Our lobbying work in Westminster goes on.

Yesterday our founder and CEO Ann Feloy and interim Deputy CEO Jess Estcourt met with Liz Twist MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Suicide and Self-Harm, alongside Doug Cave of The Learn Network and Jaquie Shanahan from the ForThe100 group.

We are campaigning for crucial changes:

  • mandatory core curriculum training in suicide prevention for all medical students across the UK,
  • the same training for nursing and paramedic students, and
  • a Duty of Care for higher education institutions to support students’ mental wellbeing.

They were delighted to be joined by Associate Professor Louise Howard from Kingston University. Louise and Ann will be speaking together at the Royal College of Nursing’s conference at Exeter University in April.
