Five Peaks for Five Years of Suicide Prevention Work

New friendships were formed and lasting memories created by walkers who took part in the first ever 17-mile long ‘Worthing Five Peaks Challenge’ on Saturday, September 6th, in the glorious South Downs.

People came from both the local area and from far afield to celebrate the joy of nature and of life itself, while remembering those who had died by suicide.

David Taylor and his son Matthew were just two of the walkers who made up four different groups, each with a leader and backstop, supported by a host of marshalls along the way. David said: “I can honestly say this was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Matthew and I are proud to have supported Olly’s Future and hope to take part in future events”.

The challenge was devised by Ann Feloy, Olly’s Future CEO, and her husband, Chris, who loved to walk in the downs with their son before he died, aged 22. The walk included five peaks, representing five years of the charity, and took place to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day – Wednesday, September 1Oth.

There were four groups in total and the first made it back after seven hours, with a half hour rest on the way at Sullington Manor Farm Sullington Manor Farm
